Vilair-AAF HEPA housings in new Westmead PC3 containment facility
The WIN (Western Integrated Network) Stage 1W project involves the construction of a new critical care centre, allied health facilities, women’s health and newborn care centres, cancer services, renal wards and engineering infrastructure. A new PC3 laboratory and decontamination room for the Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research at Westmead are part of the development. Physical Containment Level 3 (PC3) facilities are negative-pressure containment laboratories, specified in AS/NZS 2243.3:2002 and suitable for work with Risk Group 3 pathogens and certain Genetically Modified Organisms.
Vilair-AAF was selected to supply special, airtight, stainless steel HEPA filter housings for the ventilation of these critical environments. The equipment was specified by S2F and installed by Allstaff Airconditioning as part of their air conditioning and ventilation contract. Prior to delivery to site, the housings were tested to confirm their integrity by maintaining a static pressure of 1000 Pa for not less than one hour. The housings and all other elements of the installation were tested in situ by Allstaff during the facility commissioning programme. Vilair-AAF is able to supply a wide range of standard or custom-designed HEPA/ULPA housings and systems for any cleanroom, containment or controlled-environment application.
